Μαδιάμ, ἡ (Hebrew מִדְיָן (i. e. 'strife')), Midian (in A. V. (the 1611 edition) N. T. Madian), proper name of the territory of the Midianites in Arabia; it took its name from Midian, son of Abraham and Keturah (Genesis 25:1f): Acts 7:29.
