Γαβριήλ, ὁ (גַּבְרִיאֵל, from גֶּבֶר, strong man, hero, and אֵל, God), indeclinable, Gabriel, one of the angel-princes or chiefs of the angels (Daniel 8:16; Daniel 9:21): Luke 1:19, 26; see ἀρχάγγελος (and references under the word ἄγγελος, at the end; BB. DD. under the word).
